Explanation:

#"Sulfates"# and #"bisulfates"# are salts of #SO_4^(2-)# and #HSO_4^(-)# (i.e. #(O=)_2S(OH)O^(-)#; reasonably the charge is presumed to ride on the oxygen). The parent acids are of course #H_2SO_4# and #HSO_4^(-)#.

Metal sulfates tend to be soluble in aqueous media; there are a few exceptions, i.e. notably with metallic dications, #M^(2+)#.
