n-butane DOES NOT generate any geometric isomers.......

Explanation:

And nor does isobutane, H3CCH(CH3)CH3.

However, 2-butylene can generate cis and trans isomers as shown:

These are GEOMETRIC isomers, because the CC connectivity is IDENTICAL for each isomer: C1 connects to C2.........to C4. Their different geometry gives rise to different physical and chemical properties.
