Explanation:

The only thing I can think of is coming from the basic expression for Kinetic Energy:
#K=1/2mv^2#
that tells us that there is a direct proportionality between kinetic energy #K# and mass #m#, so that when you increase the mass of a moving object the kinetic energy will also increase, i.e.:
let us consider a car travelling at, say, #60 (km)/h# and having mass of #1000kg#; when you have the same car travelling at the same velocity but now with double the mass (you are carrying your mates) the kinetic energy will double as well.
