Explanation:
The War of 1812, well, occurred in 1812, thus the title. To further elaborate on the topic, jingoes in the U.S. (known was "War Hawks") wanted to annex the territory of Canada from the Commonwealth of Great Britain. This (as you may know) ended up catastrophically, as the nation was still very much essentially young, which subsequently lead to the white house getting ravaged, however the U.S. did manage to white peace via them winning some naval battles (thus why it wasn't a calamity in American history)
