This is a comproportionation reaction. Sulfur dioxide acts as an oxidant; sulfide as a reductant.

Explanation:

H_2S(aq) + SO_2(aq) rarr 2H_2O + 3S(s) darrH2S(aq)+SO2(aq)2H2O+3S(s)

"Sulfide ion is oxidized to elemental sulfur"Sulfide ion is oxidized to elemental sulfur.

"Sulfur dioxide is reduced to elemental sulfur"Sulfur dioxide is reduced to elemental sulfur.

As I recall, the sulfur precipitates from solution as a fine white precipitate.
