I don't think there is much difference. Ionization potential is an older term, and is measured in electron volts.
Explanation:
The (1st) ionization energy is the energy associated with the formation of 1 mole of negative ions from 1 mole (gaseous) atoms, and 1 mol of (gaseous) electrons.
The ionization potential is this energy measured in electron volts.
