Dilation=multiplication

Explanation:

What is a dilation?

A #color(darkslateblue)(dilation)# is when an image either gets smaller or larger when multiplied by a number. In this case, our dilation factor is 2.

If #k# (which represents our scale factor) is larger than one, then the image is getting larger.

If #k<1#, our image will be smaller than the original.

You didn't specify here, so I'm just going to assume that the dilation is about the origin. ALWAYS be sure to specify where the dilation is occurring.

Since this dilation is from the origin, we just simply multiply the coordinates of each point by the scale factor (2).

So, #A(-4-1)# #-># #A'(-8,-2)#

All I did was multiply the x coordinate of the original triangle by 2 to get the new coordinate of the image.

We do the same for B and C:

#B(-4,-3)# #-># #B'(-8,-6)#

#C(-1,-3)# # -># #C'(-2,-6)#
