When does ROH dissociate as R-O^(-) and H^(+) and asR^(+) and OH^(-)?

Explanation:

When ROH dissociate as RO^- and H^+ , it shows acidic character.In this case, when alcohol reacts with Metal ( ROH + NaH = ROM + H2),Esterification (RO^18H + CH3COOH = CH3COO^18R + H2O) and Acid chloride (RCOCl + ROH = RCOOR +HCl).

On the other hand, when ROH reacts with all others compound like Cl2 ,PCl5,PCl3,SOCl2, NH3 shows R^+ and OH^-.
