There is dramatic irony, situational irony, and verbal irony.

Explanation:

Dramatic irony is when the reader knows something the character does not know. EX: In Romeo and Juliet, the audience knows Juliet is alive, but Romeo thinks she is dead.

Situational irony is when something happens that is not expected. EX: If a firetruck catches fire, even though they are supposed to put it out.

Verbal irony is when you say something, but don't mean it. It is sarcasm. EX: If there is a hurricane outside, and someone says, "What nice weather!"
