Explanation:

#2x+2y=3#
#x−4y=−1#
From the 2nd equation: #x=4y-1#
put this x to the 1st equation:
#2(4y-1)+2y=3#
#8y-2+2y=3#
#10y=5#
#y=1/2#

And on the end y put to the x:
#x=4*1/2-1=2-1=1#
