21.6cm and 14.4cm

Explanation:

Let one side be 3x3x and the other 2x2x

This makes the perimeter =>3x+2x+3x+2x=723x+2x+3x+2x=72

10x=7210x=72

x=7.2x=7.2

3xx7.2=21.63×7.2=21.6

2xx7.2=14.42×7.2=14.4

The longer sides are 21.6cm in length and the shorter sides are 14.4cm in length.

Explanation:

As the opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal in length...

the perimeter for a parallelogram is the sum of it`s sides. So, the equation would be as follows.

3x+2x+3x+2x=72cm3x+2x+3x+2x=72cm

this would be...

10x=72cm10x=72cm

solving for x...

x=72/10x=7210

which is... x=7.2x=7.2

now we substitute the value of 'x' in...

3x+2x+3x+2x=72cm3x+2x+3x+2x=72cm

we see...

3(7.2)+2(7.2)+3(7.2)+2(7.2)=72cm3(7.2)+2(7.2)+3(7.2)+2(7.2)=72cm

i.e...

21.6+14.4+21.6+14.4=72cm21.6+14.4+21.6+14.4=72cm

hence the lengths for each sides are as follows...

  1. 21.6cm
  2. 14.4cm
  3. 21.6cm
  4. 14.4cm
