So if we for instance have a solution of methanol and water, we could separate the methanol from the water, just by knowing the boiling point of methanol (63 celsius). So by heating the solution the 63 C, we would expect to have separated the two compounds from each other.

If you should separate a mixture i would recommend using a HPLC instrument. Its designed to separate compounds either in gas or liquid phase
