Explanation:
The one that immediately comes to mind is Night by Elie Wiesel, a piece of Holocaust literature.
I know of a book that is more or less the opposite of this, too: Man's Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl, also Holocaust literature.
Others might have more input. I would expect to find more of what you're looking for in books about the Holocaust.
