Connect the wires in parallel across the voltage source.
Explanation:
If you do this, each wire gets the same voltage it would have if it were alone in the circuit, and runs a current based on its resistance and that voltage.
But, since you have two (identical?) wires connected the same way, each runs a full amount of current - double the original amount.
Other than this general result, I am not sure about the operation of the airplane bulb you refer to...perhaps if you include a picture?
