It depends on what kind of burst.
Explanation:
If you’re talking about a solar flare then no. Solar flares (or coronal mass ejections, CME for short) cannot reach our planet. The solar wind and particles that CME’s send through the solar system are blocked by earth’s magnetic field. The effect of this can be seen as aurora’s.
On the other hand if we’re talking about a gamma ray burst from somewhere in our galaxy then yes. The burst would strip away any protection the earth’s magnetic field would provide and fry the surface of the planet. It has to be said though that the chances of this happening are virtually nil so don’t worry about it 😊
