4(x+2)=4+x+2

4x+8=6+x

4x-x=6-8

3x=-2

x=-2/3

Verification:-

4((-2/3)+2)=4+(-2/3)+2

(-8/3)+8=6+(-2/3)

-8+24=18-2

16=16

hence LHS=RHS.

x=-2/3

Explanation:

"distribute the bracket and simplify right side"

rArr4x+8=6+x

"subtract x from both sides"

4x-x+8=6cancel(+x)cancel(-x)

rArr3x+8=6

"subtract 8 from both sides"

3xcancel(+8)cancel(-8)=6-8

rArr3x=-2

"divide both sides by 3"

(cancel(3) x)/cancel(3)=(-2)/3

rArrx=-2/3" is the solution"
