Because it is a virtual image, only real ones can form an image on a screen.
Explanation:
When the light from a reflected object hits your eye the rays are still diverging (moving apart) so the brain interprets that as showing the position of the object being behind the mirror. (Your brain never learned physics during evolution.)
A diagram should help show why it is a virtual image (you see the object where the projected (black lines in this case, but normally drawn as dotted) lines appear to originate behind the mirror.
