The speed does not exactly increase.
Explanation:
It is relative. If the boat stays still and you move away from the boat, for example, 0.5m/sec, the distance from you and the boat increases 0.5m every 1 second. If the boat is moving at 5m/sec and you jump off at 0.5m/sec, the distance between increases at 5.5m/sec.
