The warring Daimyo were one reason that political reformation was delayed

Explanation:

The political reformation (Also called the Meiji Restoration) happened in 1868 when emperor Meiji completely changed the government and unified it, making a national economy and a national government, among other things. It is known to be a huge era of political, economic and social change that lead to a unified Japan. But what kept them from doing this before?

A major factor that delayed political reformation were the Daimyo. The Daimyo were the autonomous lords of the late 15th and 16th centuries who exercised personal authority on their own lands. The Daimyo often went to war with each other, and they didn't get along at all. The emperor was virtually powerless, and the shogun, or military leader, had complete control.
