The difference in strength is minimal, but in hydrocarbons, carbon atoms experience a greater share of electron density than hydrogen in the C-H bonds. This in turn causes the alkyl group to exhibit ‘electron donating’ properties which makes it harder for the bonded oxygen of the alcohol group to pull electron density towards itself from the bonding H atom, thus reducing the overal polarity of the O-H bond (this polarity is responsible for the hydrogen bonding phenomena).
