We know that the shadow is 29m long, and an angle in the triangle - 30^@

Think about soh cah toa - which suits here?

We're trying to find the height, which in this case is the opposite side of the triangle. So we'll use toa.

tan(30)="O"/29
"O"=11.547

So the tree is 11.5 metres tall

Now for the distance from tip of tree to end of shadow (hypotenuse of our triangle).

Use cosine (cah)

cos(30)=29/"H"
29/cos(30) = "H"
"H"=33.486

So distance is 33.5 metres.
