Hormone is a chemical released from glands known as endocrine glands, that travels in the blood stream to bring about an effect in another organ.
Hormones bring about their effects by binding to receptor protein molecule in the cell membrane. The target organ after binding with the hormone, may respond by triggering the activity of enzymes or expressing appropriate genes.
