"IUPAC" name is a name that describes the chemical structure of a compound.

For organic compounds, first identify the functional group. You can see that this is alkane, it only has a single bond and no other functional groups.

Then count and number the carbon atoms in the longest chain. In the longest chain there are 6 carbon atoms.

Write the name of the carbon chain, using the correct ending functional group name. We know there are 6 carbons and it is alkane which ends with ena therefore, it is hexane.

Next, name side branches. On the third carbon #-CH_2 - CH_3# is bonded, which is ethyl group if we go from the top left to the right.
Branches are named as:
Methyl #( -CH_3)#
Ethyl #(-CH_2 - CH_3)#
Propyl #(-CH_2 - CH_2 - CH_3)#
Butyl #(-CH_2 - CH_2 - CH_2 -CH_3)# etc. This depends on the number of carbon atoms there are in the branch.

That's why the IUPAC name for this structure is 3-ethylhexane.
