SI Units are distinguishable internationally, whereas non-SI units are not.

Explanation:

SI (International System) Units are units that are developed for international understanding. Examples include kg, ampere, candela, meter, etc.

The reason why SI Units were created is because with so many different units from each country in the world, it can often be hard to communicate values easily and efficiently. For example, if someone in America were to receive a value from someone in Sub-Saharan Africa saying "#3# m", then he/she may mistake it to be #3# miles, which is a completely different measurement. Or, the American might have to pull out a calculator and do some meticulous number-crunching to find out what the African meant.

Instead of these such inconveniences which may lead to errors and large, costly mistakes, international representatives (from all over the world) came together to create the SI Units. Unlike with non-SI Units, the American will know that if the African tells him "#3# m" that he is talking about the distance #3# meters.
