Distillation can be used to separate salt from water.
Explanation:
In the video below the red liquid in the flask is a solution of salt water. There is also a small amount of red food coloring added.
As the liquid in the flask reaches the boiling point, water is vaporized an travels through glass tubing which is cooled by flowing water. This causes the water vapor to condense and eventually drip into a collection beaker.
The water collected in the beaker after distillation is clear and does not contain salt.
