Testicular cancer is fairly rare, but it is the leading cancer killer of men under age 35. What is the best screening tool to catch this type of cancer?

You can do the screening by yourself or you may try to use a home pregnancy test.

Explanation:

How to do a monthly testicular self exam:
1. After a warm bath, stand in front of a mirror. Check for any swelling on the scrotal skin (skin of testicles).
2. Examine each testicle with both hands. Place your index and middle fingers under the testicle with the thumbs placed on top. Firm but gently roll the testicle between your thumbs and fingers to feel any irregularities on the surface or texture of the testicle.
3. Find the epididymis, a soft rope-like structure on the back of the testicle. If you familiarize yourself with this part, you won't mistake it for a suspicious lump.

If you notice any change, irregularities, swelling or pain, do not assume anything and consult a Urologist first.

For the home pregnancy test, this has been a very popular topic ever since an article came out about a boy who tested positive for pregnancy has indeed testicular cancer. The PT will detect the Human chorionic gonadotropin hormone. This hormone is normally produced only during pregnancy but is also produced by testicular cancer cells.

Note: Should you ever try the mentioned tests at home, and you might suspect something or tested positive for pregnancy, do not ever self diagnose your disease. Go to a doctor (urologist or oncologist) immediately. They will order a biopsy for your testicle and the result will be their basis if you really have testicular cancer or not.
