There are 1000 mL (milliliters) in 1 L (liter).
So, to convert from mL to L, divide by 1000.

Explanation:

For mL to L, muliply by 10^-3...........

Explanation:

"milli"-=10^-3, and thus "1 millilitre"-=1xx10^-3*L

And thus 10*mL=10*mLxx1xx10^-3*L*mL^-1=10^-2*L
