First, move the #1/6# term to the right of the = sign, so that terms involving the variable are together on the left and the right side of the equation has only numbers. To do this, subtract #1/6# from both sidess

#(x-2)/3 = 5/6-1/6#

#(x-2)/3 = 4/6#

Now, get rid of denominators by multiplying each side by 6

#2(x-2)=4

Divide both sides by 2

#x-2 = 2#

Add 2 to each side

#x=4#
