The hydrochloric acid is a strong acid and therefore, it is considered to completely dissociate in water as follows:

#HCl(aq)->H^+(aq)+Cl^(-)(aq)#

in this case, since the #[HCl]=0.45M#, the concentration of hydrogen ion in solution is also considered to be #[H^+]=0.45M#

The pH of the solution is calculated by:

#pH=-log[H^+]#

#=>pH=-log(0.45)=0.35#
