Speed measures how far something travels in a certain amount of time.

Explanation:

Speed is a scalar quantity- it doesn't have any direction. The vector counterpart to speed is velocity.
Speed has the SI units of ms1 (Meters per second), but can be measured in any combination of distance units per time units:
Examples:
miles per hour
kilometers per minute
furlongs per week
etc.
Hopefully some of this will help!
