Animals that live in humid habitats may excrete primarily ammonia or urea and have relatively SHORT Loops of Henle. The loop allows animals to re-absorb water that they have already used. Therefore, desert animals with less access to water will have longer Loops of Henle because it will let them re-absorb larger quantities of water.
