How do mutations relate to natural selection?

Mutation occurs when the organism is introduced to a new environment or some sort of change which it needs to adapt to.
Explanation:
If a boy from Bangladesh (Tropical climate) goes to Russia (Cold climate) his body will not be able to adjust at first.His cells will need time to mutate or if the boy had a recessive gene that is more resistant to the cold,it will now be expressed.When the boy produces offspring with a female,due to selection pressure and therefore natural selection,that gene will be passed on to enhance the chance of the survival of the offspring.
