It is by using mole ratios that we are able to create compounds and then react those compounds in chemical reactions without any waste.
By using the formula masses, dictated by the coefficients (number of moles) chemist know how much of each reactant to react together and by looking at the complete balanced equation, they can predict how much of each product they should expect. If you were working in a factory or for a company that performed chemical reactions to produce a product, you would want to make sure to keep plenty of each reactant available to supply that demand.
