According to the results of the gold foil experiment by Rutherford, not that high of a chance.
"they noticed only a tiny fraction of the alpha particles were deflected by more than 90°."
If you notice from the picture that the alpha particles went through the foil much more often than those that bounced back toward the emitter. So if you were to calculate the probabilty it would reflect the results of the experiment.
