When balancing a chemical equation, we place whole numbers, or coefficients in front of the properly written formulas to balance equations. It is helpful to make a list of the elements, record the number of each element in the reactants and the products.

If you have to use a half of a coefficient to balance the equation, it is recommended to multiple all coefficients by two to eliminate the half. The idea is impossible to have a half of a molecule.
